Push up with rotation

The Push Up with Rotation is a dynamic variation of the traditional push-up that engages multiple muscle groups, including the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core. As you rotate during the exercise, you also recruit the obliques and back muscles, enhancing overall stability and strength. This makes it an effective full-body workout that promotes muscle endurance and functional strength.

To perform the Push Up with Rotation, start in a standard push-up position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Lower your body into a push-up, and as you push back up, rotate your torso to one side and extend your arm upward, forming a straight line from your shoulders to your fingertips. Return to the starting push-up position and repeat, alternating sides with each repetition. Maintain a straight line from head to heels throughout the movement to ensure proper form.

In addition to building strength, the Push Up with Rotation improves coordination and stability, making it beneficial for enhancing athletic performance and functional movements. Beginners can modify the exercise by performing it on their knees or reducing the range of motion. For advanced athletes, adding a plyometric element by incorporating a jump during the push-up can significantly increase intensity.

Tips:

  1. Keep your body in a straight line throughout to prevent sagging hips.

  2. Engage your core and glutes to maintain stability.

  3. Breathe in as you lower down and exhale as you push up and rotate.

  4. Start slowly to master the form before increasing speed or intensity.

  5. Ensure your shoulder does not dip below your elbows during the movement.
