Bench
Flat bench
A flat bench gives you a firm, padded surface at about knee height, supported by a sturdy frame. It feels more stable and spacious than a chair, with room to sit, lie back or place your hands securely. The simple, level shape keeps your position predictable while you move around it.
You can use a bench for steady strength practice, either as a support or as the surface you move from. For a bench dip, you place your hands behind you on the edge, keep your feet on the floor and lower and raise yourself with control. It can also support seated or lying movements comfortably.
It suits you if you want a stable base for simple home strength sessions and have enough floor space to walk around it. A flat bench has little to adjust, so getting started is straightforward; for dips, bending your knees or bringing your feet closer can make the movement easier. A solid chair can substitute, provided it cannot slide or tip.
