Zercher harness
A Zercher harness sits over your shoulders and upper body, with padded straps or supports that hold a bar in front of you near elbow height. It gives you the close, forward-held feel of a Zercher hold without pressing the bar directly into the bends of your elbows. The setup can feel unusual at first, especially while you find a balanced, comfortable position.
You use it with a barbell for squats, standing carries, and controlled hip-bending movements. Holding the load in front asks your legs, hips, stomach, and upper back to work together while you stay upright. The harness also leaves your hands less involved than a traditional Zercher hold, so you can focus on steady movement and body position.
It may suit you if direct bar pressure on your arms makes Zercher-style training uncomfortable, or if your grip limits the movement. You need a barbell, plates, and enough clear space to load and move safely, so it is not a compact option. The load is easy to scale, though the straps may take some adjustment. A sandbag or securely held backpack offers a simpler alternative.
