Trapeze table

Pilates Cadillac

At first glance, the trapeze table resembles a firm, raised exercise bed surrounded by a tall metal frame, with hanging bars, springs and straps. You work lying, sitting, kneeling or standing, while the platform and frame provide support and the springs add gentle or stronger resistance. It can feel secure and controlled, although its many attachments may seem unfamiliar at first.

You can use it for slow, full-body Pilates practice that develops control, balance and coordination. Springs and straps let you press with your arms, guide your legs, curl or lengthen your body, and practise supported standing movements. The table also makes many floor exercises easier to explore by giving you more points of support.

This apparatus can suit you if you enjoy measured, varied movement and value extra support while learning. It takes up considerably more room than a mat and needs clear space around its frame. Resistance and support are adjustable, but changing springs and bars is safest with guidance at first. At home, a mat, resistance band and sturdy chair offer a simpler alternative.
