Prowler Sled
Low to the ground, a Prowler sled has a sturdy metal frame, upright posts and handles for pushing from either end. You load it with weight plates, then move it across a suitable surface. It feels steady and direct, with resistance coming from both the load and friction under the runners; scraping and some noise are normal.
You use it for simple pushing and pulling drills that raise your breathing while strengthening your legs, hips, shoulders and middle. Different handle positions let you stay more upright or lean forward, and a strap can allow backward walks or drags. Because the movement is straightforward, you can focus on smooth steps, a comfortable pace and keeping control.
It suits you if you enjoy practical, straightforward training and have access to a long, clear stretch of firm flooring or outdoor ground. The frame itself is bulky, but changing the resistance is usually simple: use less load, cover a shorter distance or choose an easier surface. If space is limited, uphill walking offers an accessible everyday alternative.
