Preacher curl machine
Preacher bench
With your upper arms resting on a sloped pad, the preacher curl machine guides you through a controlled curling movement. You sit behind the pad, grip the handles, and bend your elbows to bring your hands upward. A preacher bench offers the same supported position but is used with a separate bar or dumbbells. The support makes the movement feel steady and focused.
You use it to strengthen the front of your upper arms while keeping your shoulders and upper body relatively still. The fixed support helps you practise a smooth path and notice how the movement feels without needing to balance the equipment. Depending on the design, you can curl both arms together or work one arm at a time with a dumbbell.
It suits you if you want a seated, supported way to train your arms. It takes up a moderate amount of floor space, and a bench also needs room for separate dumbbells or a bar. You can usually scale the effort easily by changing the resistance. Adjust the seat so your upper arms rest comfortably; seated dumbbell curls are a simpler home alternative.
