Plyo box
With its broad, flat top and sturdy base, a plyo box gives you a raised platform for stepping or jumping. Boxes may be rigid or padded, and some offer different heights when turned onto another side. Using one can feel stable for step-based movements, while jumping onto it asks for more confidence, control and careful foot placement.
You can use a plyo box to develop strength, balance and coordination through step-ups, controlled jumps and movements where you sit back towards the box. Placing your hands on top also makes exercises such as push-ups more approachable. Its height adds variety, letting you practise getting up, stepping down carefully and moving with greater control.
A plyo box suits you if you want adaptable strength and movement practice, whether or not you plan to jump. Begin with a height you can step onto comfortably, and check that the box cannot slide or tip. It needs clear floor space around it and can be bulky to store. A stable step or sturdy bench can work for gentler exercises.
