Leg extension machine
Sitting on a leg extension machine, you place your shins behind a padded bar and lean against a supportive backrest. As you straighten your knees, the pad rises along a fixed path, then lowers under control. The movement feels guided and stable, with an adjustable seat, shin pad and resistance helping you find a comfortable position.
You use this machine to train the front of your thighs through a simple knee-straightening movement. It lets you focus on your legs without balancing or holding equipment, which can make the motion easier to learn. Moving slowly in both directions helps you stay aware of your range and keep the pad controlled.
It suits you if you prefer seated, guided leg training or want an exercise that asks little of your balance. The machine takes up a fair amount of floor space and is not easily stored. Before starting, adjust the seat so your knees line up with the machine’s turning point and begin with manageable resistance. From a sturdy chair, unweighted knee straightening is a simple alternative.
