Leg curl machine
With a padded bench, a moving roller and an adjustable resistance stack or plate holder, the leg curl machine supports your body while you bend your knees. You usually use it lying face down or sitting upright, depending on the design. The movement feels guided and controlled, with the roller resting against the backs of your lower legs.
It is used to strengthen the backs of your thighs through a simple knee-bending movement. Because the machine fixes the path, you can focus on moving smoothly without balancing equipment or coordinating several actions at once. Adjusting the resistance lets you make the exercise gentler or more demanding as your confidence and control develop.
It can suit you if you want a supported way to train your legs, especially if free-standing exercises feel difficult to control. Machines vary in size but usually need permanent floor space, so they are more common in gyms than small homes. Check that the seat or bench and roller fit you comfortably; for an everyday alternative, try controlled heel slides on the floor.
