Gymnastic rings
Calisthenics rings
Hanging from two adjustable straps, gymnastic rings are smooth circular handles that move independently beneath a secure overhead support. You grip them with your hands while the straps sway and the rings turn slightly, so even simple positions can feel less steady than they do on fixed bars. Their movement encourages you to work slowly and stay aware of your balance.
They are used for strength and movement practice using your own body as resistance. A ring dip has you support yourself above the rings, lower between them, then press back up, working your chest, shoulders and arms while your middle helps keep you steady. The rings can also support gentler leaning movements, hanging practice and controlled holds as your confidence grows.
Rings suit you if you enjoy adaptable training and are comfortable learning control before attempting deeper dips. They take little storage space but need clear room around and below them, plus a strong, suitable place to hang the straps. Strap length is easy to adjust, and keeping your feet on the floor can make practice more manageable. Fixed dip bars are a steadier alternative.
