Glute machine
Butt blaster
With a padded support, hand grips and a moving foot platform, a glute machine guides one leg backwards against resistance. You usually lean or kneel into the frame while keeping your upper body steady. The motion feels controlled and focused around your bottom and the back of your thighs, with the machine supporting your balance as you move.
You use it for steady lower-body strength work, especially movements where you press one leg behind you. Training one side at a time can help you notice differences in control and find a comfortable range for each leg. The guided path lets you practise moving your leg backwards without having to hold loose equipment or manage much balance.
It can suit you if you prefer supported, easy-to-follow movements or feel less confident balancing during standing exercises. Most versions let you change the resistance and pad position, so begin gently and check that your knee, hands and chest feel comfortably supported. The frame can take up considerable floor space; at home, you can try the same motion on hands and knees without equipment.
