Gliding disc

Small, flat discs sit under your hands or feet and slide across the floor as you move. They are usually smooth on one side, with a grippier surface on the other. Using them feels controlled but slightly unstable, because you need to guide each glide and keep the disc from slipping away.

You can use gliding discs to make familiar floor movements flow without lifting your hands or feet between positions. They work well for sliding lunges, leg curls, and plank-based movements, helping you practise control through your stomach, hips, legs, shoulders, and arms. The reduced friction also lets you link movements smoothly and adjust the distance of each slide.

They suit you if you want a compact way to add variety to home workouts, especially when storage space is limited. Start with short, slow slides near a wall or sturdy chair, then increase the range as your control improves. Check that the disc matches your floor surface; a folded towel can offer a simple alternative on a smooth floor.
