Core wheel
Small and simple, a core wheel has one or two narrow wheels with a handle running through the centre. You usually hold it with both hands from a kneeling position and roll it away from you. The movement feels smooth but quickly becomes demanding, because you must keep your middle steady as the wheel travels. A mat can make kneeling more comfortable.
It is mainly used for controlled, floor-based strength training. Rolling forward and drawing the wheel back works your stomach, shoulders, arms and back while asking your whole body to stay in line. You can use a short rolling range at first, then gradually travel farther as the motion becomes more familiar and manageable.
It suits you if you want a compact tool for building strength and are comfortable getting down to the floor. Most models need no adjustment; you scale the movement by shortening the rollout or using a wall as a stopping point. You need clear floor space in front of you, though storage is minimal. A folded towel on a smooth floor can offer a similar sliding movement.
