Calf raise block
A calf raise block gives you a firm, raised edge to stand on, usually with a flat base and a textured or grippy top. You place the front of your feet on the edge while your heels remain free to move. It feels simple and stable, though holding a wall or rail can make balancing more comfortable.
It is mainly used for controlled heel raises, giving your ankles more room to move than the floor does. You can rise onto the fronts of your feet, lower your heels gently below the edge, and work one foot or both together. Small changes in foot position or knee bend can vary how the movement feels through your calves.
It suits you if you want a focused, easy-to-understand way to strengthen your calves and practise ankle control. The block takes little floor space, and the movement is easy to scale by using support, limiting how far your heels lower, or working both feet together. Start on a non-slip surface; a sturdy stair step can be an everyday alternative, provided you have a secure handhold.
