Ankle weights
Ankle weights are padded cuffs that fasten around your lower legs, usually with hook-and-loop straps. They add a small, noticeable load while leaving your hands free. You may feel them most as your feet lift and lower. A secure, comfortable fit matters, as loose cuffs can slide, rub or change how naturally you move.
You can use them for controlled leg lifts, standing movements, or gentle floor exercises that work your hips, thighs and stomach. They can also make some familiar routines feel more demanding without requiring you to hold anything. They are generally less suitable for brisk walking or running, where added load may make your stride feel awkward.
They suit you if you want a compact way to add resistance to slow, steady movement, especially when your hands need to stay free. They take little storage space and are easy to scale by choosing lighter cuffs or removing them. Start with a snug fit and simple movements; a resistance band can offer a similarly portable alternative.
