Abdominal bench

With its padded surface set on a slight or adjustable slope, an abdominal bench supports your back while you move between reclined and upright positions. Many models include rollers or pads that hold your feet or lower legs. It feels more secure than working on the floor, though the angled position can make familiar movements feel harder.

You can use the bench for controlled curling and lowering movements that work the front and sides of your middle. It can also support gentle twisting movements or seated exercises, depending on its shape and settings. Changing the angle lets you make the same movement easier or more demanding without needing extra equipment.

It suits you if you prefer more back support and a clear place to position your legs during floor-style exercises. Most benches take up about as much room as a narrow lounger, although folding designs are easier to store. Start with a comfortable angle and check that all pins and pads are secure. A firm mat is a simpler alternative for similar movements.
